Superintendent's Welcome

Dr. Scott Grens is the Superintendent of Skokie School District 68, where he leads with a strong commitment to equity, innovation, and student-centered learning. With more than 15 years of experience as a teacher, principal, and district leader, he has dedicated his career to building inclusive, high-performing schools that help every student succeed.

Before coming to Skokie 68, Dr. Grens served as Associate Superintendent in Elmhurst CUSD 205, where he supported instructional improvement, professional development, and system alignment for 9,000 students. Earlier in his career, he taught high school English and went on to serve in school and district leadership roles in the Chicago Public Schools and Lincolnwood SD 74, always with a focus on expanding access and opportunity for learners.

Raised in the Chicagoland area and a proud Chick Evans Scholar, Dr. Grens earned his bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and later completed his doctorate in Educational Leadership at National Louis University, where he now serves as an adjunct professor. He is deeply committed to service and continuous improvement at the system level, ensuring that organizational priorities advance the growth and success of all students and educators.
