Dear Highland Hawks Families,
We are proud to share that once again Highland Elementary School earned an overall Exemplary rating on the State of IL Report Card 2026!
Congratulations to our students, staff (past and present), and families! This achievement is not accidental. It is rooted in everyone’s dedication to academic excellence and commitment to support our school’s efforts.
At Skokie 68, our mission is to ensure each and every student is supported to belong, inspired to grow, and challenged to learn. The state report card helps us reflect on these experiences and outcomes. This Exemplary Profile of Performance brings together several connected measures: academic achievement, academic growth, English learner progress, consistent attendance, and climate survey participation. These measures help us understand our school’s strengths and needs. They do not capture everything that makes Highland special or define any child’s ability, effort, or potential.
An Exemplary overall profile does not require every indicator to be Exemplary. Our Exemplary results in English learner progress and climate survey participation helped raise the overall profile. Schools can demonstrate strengths in several ways, and every school—including ours—has room to improve.
Our next steps will connect these results with classroom learning, survey feedback, and conversations with students, staff, and families. We will ask students what helps them learn, where they need support, and whether they feel included and challenged. We will also examine results across student groups to understand whether all students are benefiting from our school’s strengths. This information will guide our instructional support, attendance partnerships, and progress monitoring.
Please take a moment to congratulate your awesome child, yourself, and our dedicated staff.
Way to Soar, Highland Hawks!
Mrs. Atto, Ed.S.
Proud Highland Principal
