Halloween at the ECC 2026

We will be celebrating Halloween on Friday, October 30th. Children are invited to wear costumes, participate in our Halloween parade, and take part in our classroom treat bag exchange.

Costumes:  Children are welcome to wear a Halloween costume, but costumes are not required to participate in the parade. Please have your child arrive at school wearing their costume. Masks and costume accessories need to be left at home.

Treats:  We will decorate treat bags and exchange treats at school. If you would like to contribute, please send only store-bought, individually wrapped, nut-free treats. Treats will not be opened or eaten at school.

Parade:  Our parade will take place outside the building at the following times:
  • AM Class: 10:50 a.m.
  • PM Class: 2:15 p.m.
Families are welcome to meet us by the grassy area behind our new playground to watch the parade and take pictures! If the parking lot is full, please park on the street. After the parade, children will return inside to gather their belongings, and we will start the dismissal routine.

If you have any questions or would prefer that your child not participate in any of the Halloween activities, please contact us.

We look forward to celebrating Halloween with our little pumpkins!

November Highlights

Starting this coming month, November, we are excited to announce monthly dress-up days around different themes on the first Friday of every month.  Please wear your best nature-inspired/animal outfit on Friday, November 6.  Think fall colors, shirts with pictures of animals, leaves, trees, beaches, etc. Families do not need to go out and buy new clothes for these first Fridays. It can be an orange shirt in honor of fall colors or a shirt with a dog on it because a dog is your child's favorite animal, etc.

This a reminder that there is no school on Tuesday, November 3 because it is a General Election Day.

Health Office Reminders

Hearing and Vision Screenings
We have a date for the Hearing and Vision screenings. They will take place on November 10th. The classes that will need to be screened are Mrs. Buchfink's AM and PM and Mrs.Sanchez's AM as well as any students who were absent or new since October 20. Please make sure to send your child to school that day so they do not miss their appointment.

Reporting Absences
Please make sure that you contact the school when your child is absent. Attendance is very important as it helps establish routine for your child and helps them retain their lessons as they continue on their path of education. If you do not report your child's absence, it will be marked Absent Unexcused. To avoid this, please use ParentSquare or Infinite Campus to report absences, or contact Lia Moreno directly. Below is her contact information. If you  see on Infinite Campus that is has been marked unexcused, please contact the health clerk to explain the reason for your student's absence.

Miles of Smiles Dental Clinic

The new date for the dental clinic is November 24th. We will be sending out a reminder the day before to the parents of students who signed up for this event. Please make sure to send your student to school this day, as we will not be having another make up date.

Drop-Off & Pick-Up Reminders

  • Pick-Up Requirement: Whether you are picking up your child in a car or walking up to the building, please make sure you have your assigned pick-up number displayed or ready to present. If you do not have your number with you, you will be directed to the main office to show a valid ID.
  • Please use the circle drive in front of the ECC for drop-off and pick-up as opposed to parking your car in the parking lot and walking to the front door. This is safer and faster.
  • Please form two lines in the circle drive—one on the left and one on the right.
  • Please stay in your car if we need to move vehicles forward toward the front where the stop sign is.
  • Please do NOT park in one of the handicapped parking spots in front of the building unless you have a valid handicapped plate or tag.
  • In the circle drive, please keep the white striped area clear for families and students walking to/from school and staff members walking to/from their vehicles.
During the winter, there may be fewer parking spots in the lot because of snow removal. Families of afternoon students who park in the lot may be stuck in the lot because of dismissal at OOJH.

Below are links to more detailed procedures and a map of the drop-off/pick-up route:
